One of the secrets to the durability and beauty of DuChateau Floors is their hard-wax oil finish. The oil penetrates deeply into the wood to enhance the look of the natural grain while the wax remains on the surface to create a protective layer that helps the floors stand up to daily use and abuse.
Unlike the run-of-the-mill polyurethanes used on many wood floors today, DuChateau’s hard-wax oil creates a floor that is easily repairable—even for quick spot fixes—so there’s no need to do a major resanding and refinishing job if just one area of your floor gets damaged. Another bonus: the hard-wax oil is extremely water repellent and does not water-mark. That means DuChateau Floors are an excellent choice for homes where life happens (kids, pets and parties) and commercial spaces that see a lot of foot traffic.
By regularly applying our maintenance oils and parquet cleaner to your DuChateau Floors, they will last a lifetime and will always maintain their beauty.

Getting out to see our friends is what it’s all about. Our sales rep Scott Lithgow took a trip out to see Wheeler, a division of J.J. Haines, at its first-ever Wheeler Loyalty Club summit in Orlando on June 28. The event drew 86 registered attendees and 20 supplier representatives. Of course, DuChateau was among them. Wheeler started its division Loyalty Club in January 2010 with the goal of signing up 50 members in the first six months. (It currently has 63 members.) “The Wheeler Loyalty Club is really an extension of the Haines Loyalty Club program. It allows us to offer a solid umbrella loyalty program across the entire J.J. Haines and Wheeler footprint for all of our customers,” said Bruce Zwicker, president and CEO of J.J. Haines.

We were stoked to hear a lot of positive buzz from designers and architects at the HD Expo who are actually working on projects right now…despite what we’ve heard in some of the woe-is-me media reports over the past year. According to Floor Covering News, the hospitality market slipped anywhere between 30 and 40 percent in 2009, but the market remains optimistic! FCN writer and GO Magazine editor Melissa McGuire summed up this good cheer in a HD Expo wrap-up story in Floor Covering News. Follow the link to read what market leaders at the show had to say!

Floor Covering News ran an informative story about the state of the commercial wood sector in its most recent issue. Our very own Mitch Tagle was quoted…Check out page 8!
Although the commercial sector has experienced many of the same challenges over the last two years that the residential market has seen since 2006, the commercial downturn will not be nearly as long, according to FCN Senior Editor Louis Iannaco. He reports that hospitality, healthcare and corporate projects are showing great promise. We agree! Specifiers looking for eco-friendly, high-quality flooring solutions are keeping our sales reps extremely busy.

The DuChateau team created quite a buzz last week at the HD Expo, May 19–21 in Las Vegas, as designers, architects and project managers checked out the lastest trends and introductions in high-style, European flooring. Design professionals at the show scoped out flooring solutions for a variety of hospitality projects around the world, and Sales Manager Don Bufalini performed dozens of demonstrations showcasing the durability of DuChateau’s hard-wax oiled finish.
“We are seeing strong interest from architects and designers, domestically and internationally, who are looking for wood for a variety of projects,” said Co-founder Mitch Tagle. “You can tell the business is ramping up because they are increasing their requests for products samples and literature. They are seeking innovative and unique products that are also sustainable.”

DuChateau Floors, manufacturer of luxury, FSC-certified, wide-planked European hardwood floors, has expanded its market by partnering with five key distributors along the East Coast.
The alliances include Patriot Flooring Distributors, covering New England; All State Flooring Distributors in Fairfield, NJ, serving metro New York and northern New Jersey; Derr Flooring, which distributes to eight states from New York to Virginia; Dealer Supply South, distributing in North and South Carolina; and J.J. Haines/Wheeler group, which covers Georgia and Florida.
“According to economic indicators, and the American Institute of Architects, we are anticipating an uptick in non-residential building construction in the second half of the year,” said Duchateau President Misael “Mitch” Tagle. “By lining up our essential distribution partnerships now, we are primed for the turnaround in the building sector. We want to make it easy for our architectural, design and retail flooring customers to find high-quality, European hardwood floors through us while offering top-of-the-line customer service and expedient order fulfillment.”
Scott Lithgow, east coast sales manager for DuChateau Floors, says the company is already receiving orders from builders. “We are extremely busy, and by teaming up with top players in every key East Coast market through Florida, we are ready to pursue both commercial and residential projects in these areas and be a key partner to specifiers.”
